Data contained in this data set has been extracted from the St. Petersburg Police Department's Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. In accordance with Florida State Statute 119.071, victim information (i.e. addresses) associated with incidents of Sexual Battery, Sexual Offenses, Child Abuse, and Adult Abuse are considered confidential and are exempt from public release. In addition, events classified as forensic services, off duty, alarms and administrative in nature are excluded. Calls for service events do not typically represent the final of state of a police investigation. Specifically, the calls for service event disposition, classification and location can change throughout the course of an initial on scene investigation and should not be relied on for official crime reporting initiatives. This data, by its nature, is at best, a snapshot of police activity at a particular location and time and can prove useful for establishing the volume of complaints and police-initiated activity throughout the City of St. Petersburg, neighborhoods and political districts. Ultimately, calls for service events should not be confused with official City of St. Petersburg Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) reports, which are made available on a semi-annual and annual basis from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
